BC STRAWBERRIES PROMO
A particularly special project to me, the BC Strawberries promo was one I recorded in my second week of the semester. It was my first day in the studio and I was in complete awe of it all. Using Adobe Audition, I recorded and edited right there in block B of the campus recording studios. It was important I sounded upbeat, cut out all my breaths while maintaining fluidity, and kept the voiceover to thirty seconds exactly. It was the introduction assignment to sound design and after many re-records, the final product was one I am very happy with.

The Vancouver Canadians assignment was where I really learnt to multi-track edit using Adobe Audition.
The focal points of this project:
- Layering multiple tracks cohesively
- Using music and sound effects to amplify an advertisement
- Using compression and equalizers to enhance a voiceover
- Proper microphone technique
- Script performance
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect with this project, as it was assignment right in the middle of the MLB post-season, so baseball was already fresh on my mind.

Unhinged: the podcast
“Welcome to the world of online dating..”

Unhinged is a podcast co-hosted by myself, Abbie Mellings, and Avery Dean. It was a way for us to explore using different microphones when recording, as well as practice authenticity while performing. We used the DJI Lavalier microphones for this specific project. In addition to learning the new mic, I also edited the recordings in Adobe Audition in order ensure the audio levels were cohesive. We were given the creative freedom to use music and sound effects to enhance the tone of the episode.
The podcast is about the world of online dating and the stories we all share from personal experience. While recording I was able to practice speaking clearly and limiting my use of unnecessary words as a means to be concise.
It was a great opportunity to work collaboratively with my classmates.
